Signature Chamber Concerts kicks off its sixth season Sunday, Jan. 30, with
an unusual musical mix.
Well-known local guitarist Steve Uscher will be joined by trombonist John
Moak, bassist Kevin Mauldin and drummer Darrell Nutt to interpret music in
classical and jazz styles.
It's the first of four concerts at the Unitarian Universalist Church in
south Fort Myers that are open to the public - not just church members.
"When the church was built, it was intended to be used for concerts," said
Jean Stone, who founded the series with her husband, Ed. "The acoustics are
so good."
The church at 13411 Shire Lane holds about 400, with stadium-style seating
that affords good sight lines for all, she said.
The season continues Feb. 13 with The Luzerne Trio, March 6 with a program
of opera and show tunes, and March 20 with the Florida Brass Quintet. All
performances are Sundays at 3 p.m.
Tickets for the series are $48. Single-event tickets are $15 in advance, $18
at the door. Student admission is $8. For more information, call (800)
537-6167 or go to the Web site, www.signatureconcerts.com.
